Friendly reminder that life balance is on a yearly scale not daily
for the longest time I tried to have ‘life’ balance everyday
If every day is the same, then this wouldn’t be a problem
And that’s a big if…
Because we all know most days aren’t the same
When we say we’re out of balance we’re saying that things that matter to us aren’t being met
This is a rule that could set us up for failure
Because we know that if we put all of our attention on the most important thing in our lives, other areas will always be underserved…
there are always things to get done – every day, week, month, and year
The thing is though, leaving some things undone is essentially a requirement to achieve extraordinary results on the important area of our lives.
And we’re not dropping EVERYTHING in our life
Just spending a little more time in the important area of our life
And a little less time in other areas of our life
A counterbalancing act – Gary Keller talks about this in his book the one thing.
When we act on our number one priority, we’ll automatically become out of balance
It’s cause and effect or in other words stimulus and response.
But letting the right things (towards our most important goa)l take our number one spot when they should, while getting to the rest of life when we can – as Gary would say – leads us to an extraordinary life.
