Do you prepare in advance?
Maybe we meal prep or get our gym clothes ready
Or that lesson plan, what we’re going to say
But these are all external events that we prepare for.
What about internally? Preparing our minds for worst case scenarios?
When so
If something happens by surprise, we typically react emotionally.
Like the passing of a loved one,
Or traumatized from an accident
It’s nothing to joke about, and they are a test of our emotional strength
But what if we took the bite of these stings by preparing?
By reflecting and realizing these events could happen and when they do, I’ll be prepared
Not in a skitsofrantic way but one that shows poise and calmness,
so we’re not AS surprised when these situations come up –
Because we’ve done the work.
And this isn’t to say everything is gravy from here on out, it may still suck
But one thing is a given, our poised calm mind will be our greatest asset in these times of trial.
The bottom line is: bad things happen and today is 9/11 – thank you to all the people who went out of their way to lend a hand to someone in need, from the deaths of people to the first responders all the way to those that remember.
God Bless America
