803. The story we tell ourselves

This typically happens with our physical abilities

Ever get injured and go to the doctor – they tell you the problem and we hold onto that with dear life?

I got into a car accident before, went to the hospital and they told me something along the lines of this:

“All the muscle in your back is folded over, you won’t be able to touch your toes again”

And I believed that

That was the story I told myself time and time again, for years

“My back is tight because I got in a car accident – I can’t do yoga or stretch because my back is tight”

And now?

I can palm the floor with my legs straight.

Reflecting back, I’m not sure why the doctor told me that – it’s not like I asked what I could and couldn’t do – I just went to get checked out.

The point is – these limiting beliefs are dangerous. And can hold us back if we don’t put them in their place from the rip

The sooner the better but better later than never

Either way though, it’s not too late.

We can overcome these limitations whenever we want

It won’t be easy, we’ll have to put in the work – but it is possible.

Just give it time and effort.
