823. Emotional reactivity

How many times do we react in the way that we’re happy with?

And how many times do we react in a way that we’re not happy with?

Usually one is more than the other…

And if we’re the former vs the later, it may be hard to change.

After all, there’s a stimulus (something happened, the cause) and a response (the “that happened so this happened”, the effect)

There’s a tiny gap between that stimulus and response … the cause and effect

And that little gap is where we can choose the response we want.

Maybe that little gap is only open for .0001 seconds – we’re reacting, not even thinking. We don’t even know there’s a gap between the two.

We can start to open that gap more and more.

 .5 second, 1 second, 5 seconds..

So that we can choose the response we want

And what response do we want?

Maybe it’s to start a fight or to keep the team spirit?

The response we want says a lot about us, and how we go about it even more.
