824. Hear people out

People want to be heard

(And so do we)

The idea of sonder is everyone has a voice in their head as vivid as our own

What if we could put that voice in our heads aside?

Instead of us wanting to be heard out, we heard

Not talking but listening

Really listening – not thinking of what we’re going to say next

And it’s funny, by really listening to other people – like really listening – we usually end up being heard too.

It’s counterintuitive, just like everything else that works in life

But hearing others out first before we feel the need to be heard or without us trying to be heard? That’s where the magic happens

And it works

Listen first, and second – who cares if we feel heard or not.

Keep it moving, we got bigger things to get after.

  1. There’s something special about listening to someone else out, even if you don’t think you’re going to be heard. It’s a way to connect with someone, and it can also be a great way to get some feedback. It can also be a great way to get to know someone better. It’s counterintuitive, but that’s what makes it so special. listening first and then giving feedback is the way to go.
