Isn’t that what it all comes down to? Our ability to deal with people?
To communicate with them effectively and efficiently?
Someone freaks out, points fingers, doesn’t hear the other person out, name calls, condemns, berates people…
Versus someone who is tactful, purposeful, hears people out, appreciates, respects, wins people to their way of thinking, finds common ground?
At the moment it may not seem like a big deal, but over time? Over the course of weeks, months, years? The latter is going to be a lot less stressed and build a lot more bridges of understanding vs burning them all down, and a lot more successful in whichever they pursue.
“You idiot, why did you do it like that? This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen, don’t you know any better? What were you thinking”
“Hey appreciate you taking the time and effort to try and get this done. It really looks like you gave it your best. It’s not up to par because of x,y, and z, and after you knock those items out – we’ll be good to go.”
They’re drastic comparisons, but the point is clear.
