Here are two training programs I’ve used: Hal Higdon for marathons and ultra marathon handbook for my first 50 miler. IMO the thing with these types of cookie cutter training programs is that they are cookie cutter lol. These guys have tons of info on their websites too, but anything you have questions w or issues that come up before, during, or after training, hmu no doubt.
Some things that work for me: In the beginning I did exactly what the programs said, now as I’ve gotten a rhythm I use these training programs as more of a guide and change it up to better suit me, like doing my speed work on Tuesdays and long runs on Thursday / Friday, or running for a set time vs a set distance. For speed work people like to do like 800 meter (.5 mile) sprints, I usually just bang a hard mile out a few times or do hill work. I love doing the daily mile streak during prep too, just to get in the habit of lacing up everyday and banging out a mile… it could even be a walk. I sit down for like 10 minutes every Sunday and just plan what my workout week is going to look like and how many miles I want to hit for the week.
During peak weeks, the running may feel like a lot but it’s only for a week or two and really helps performance during race day
