1091. How to Change Beliefs

A belief is a feeling of certainty about something.

Ideas eventually turn into beliefs by having enough references to support the idea.

It’s like a table – the idea is the tabletop, and the table legs are all the references you have to support that idea – when an idea and enough references get put together you have yourself a belief.

Most of us never choose what we believe in. We learned it one way or another as we grew up.

The thing is, is that we can pick and choose which beliefs we believe in – ideally more empowering beliefs than negative ones…

So how do we change beliefs?

  1. Start with a basic belief 
  2. Add enough powerful references, and ask questions like what does this cost me? long term? What are the benefits of adopting this new belief?
  3. Then nothing left to do but to take action
