A challenge to test the mind through the body.
4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. David Goggins made the challenge up and plenty of people have completed it.
Simple.
Not easy.
I got home from work at 10pm, slept for an hour and did my first run at midnight
Went back to bed and did my next run at 4 am. It came too quick.
I ended up taking an hour nap after my 8 am run to catch up on sleep.
Focusing on warming up and cooling down properly. Drinking enough water. And not pushing myself too hard – a slow and steady pace.
I’m halfway through this challenge, the night runs are the hardest part of this whole thing. I use a timer to wake me up and just get to work.
A type two fun activity, not fun in the moment but looking back it’d be a good cookie to grab out the jar when life hands you shit.
Update: finished runs 8 and 9. Felt some tightness in my chest near my heart, which caused an alarm to go off. I believe it’s from not warming up properly and being out in the cold (30 degrees) + running. The tightness goes away after I warm up. Admittedly I haven’t been warming up properly, just stretch a little, lace up, and get out the door. I’m wearing shorts outside too so I don’t get hot. Will see how the next run goes with the change in method🤙🏽
Chest pain has been nonexistent with proper warming up. I feel like a low heart rate during sleeping + running + cold caused this issue. It felt like my heart was pumping too much blood, but it was being a little constricted from the research I found.
Difficult challenge with sleep and life but my running base helped a lot. Great training for this 200-mile race I have coming up!
any questions let me know and I can edit this blog to include them.
Thank and as DG would say, “STAY HARD MF”
