1131. How you do anything

How you do anything is how you do everything.

Ever hear that quote?

the idea is that how we work and act in our lives are more cohesive than most people realize.

Most people assume we can work hard when it is something we care about

“I don’t care about this that much so I’ll cut corners”

I’d bet the house that you cut corners in areas of your life that do matter to you too.

That’s another thing, do you know what matters to you?

Most people don’t.

They want what’s popular, shiny. The next big thing. Fame, money, power, whatever it is.

Most of that stuff is shallow.

It’s not becoming a monk, but the important things – relationships, contribution, happiness, being true to ourselves – those things matter more in the long run.

Knowing what you want is the key to life, because we can have anything we want, but we can have everything in the world.

So what do you want? Figure that out.

It takes some reflection, introspection

In the mean time – realize that how you do anything is how you do everything, and put conscious effort into being the best version of yourself

Not in the grand scheme of things, but in the little nitty gritty that often gets overlooked

Clean the dishes right away, keep your house clean, put the hose away, clean up after yourself, don’t put things off or talk bad about people, get on the same page with people, control your emotions and the words you use – not yelling at people

That’s a start, there’s a lot more nitty gritty that gets overlooked too.

And never forget it: how you do anything is how you do everything.

A law as real as gravity
