1266. The Importance of Focusing on One Thing

some time tested advice – focusing on one thing or we’ll get no thing

but how many of us have that divided focus in our life?

We want to become an artist – that’s the passion – but we are also trying to be realistic, we’re drawn to the stability of a law, labor, and police force. We decide to do both, splitting time between law and band.

It’s manageable at first, slowly but steadily making progress but as time goes on, we start to get exposed.

Our law studies slip, and music skills plateau because we can’t commit more time or effort to truly excel.

and eventually, people start passing us, promotions, landing gigs, gaining a following and we’re stuck somewhere in the middle, not making any real headway.

How often does this situation happen? More often than not. Maybe it’s trying to start two businesses at once or learning 2 different languages at once, working 3 different jobs, whatever it is the outcome is usually mediocrity in both pursuits vs excellence in one

The solution? focus. commit. choose your path and pour your energy into it. Not abandoning anything, but prioritizing.

Success comes down to sustained, focused effort, in one direction, over a long time.

Better to catch one rabbit than to never catch two.

The best part is, we can choose our rabbit wisely and chase it with everything we got.

That takes guts.
