Currently have a stack of books on my desk
The stack of books are the books that I’ve finished this year
With the intent behind that is to skim through them, review them…
To deepen my understanding of the book and retain some key information.
The thing is, I just never get around to it.
Realizing I don’t have a system for how to review and skim them, I’m making that system now:
Review my notes and highlights:
- Review any notes I wrote down
- Look over any passages I highlighted or bookmarked.
Summarize the main points:
- Write a brief summary of the key ideas or plot points
- Explain the book’s concepts
- Try explaining the book’s core message in one or two sentences.
- Write a review on good reads
Journal thoughts:
- Write down my personal reactions, feelings, and insights
- What are some questions about the book that I have?
Discuss with others:
- Talk about the book with friends or family online or in person
Connect to my life:
- How do the book’s ideas apply to my own experiences?
- How can I use what I’ve learned?
Compare and contrast:
- Relate the book to others I’ve read on similar topics.
- Consider how it fits into the broader context of its genre or field.
WTF Do I do with the book after I read it and analyzed it?
1. Keep them: Did I enjoy the book or maybe I might want to reference it later, add it to my personal library.
2. Donate: Give books to local libraries, little libraries, schools, charities, organizations, or gift them to someone
3. Sell: Sell used books online through platforms like Amazon, eBay, or local bookstores.
5. Repurpose: Use old books for craft projects or home decor.
6. Recycle: If the book is in poor condition, check local recycling guidelines for proper disposal.
That’s it
