The state park
The stillness makes being present easy.
Or easier.
Serving as a good reminder without the hustle and bustle.
But as with everything, there’s the yin and the yang
The stillness is broken by the neighbors
At night, a party ensued and a fight broke out. Someone called the cops and the cops came up to our spot, what time was it? I don’t even know. Late.
I was in a deep sleep.
The cop shined the light into our eyes while we were in our car, in which we have it converted into where we can sleep in it.
“What” I said half asleep half pissed off
“No”
I don’t even remember what he asked me. Probably something about the fight. I found out about the fight next door happening from Corie who had been up most of the night from the ruckus.
That’s one of my super powers. Being able to fall asleep anywhere, maybe not any time but given enough deprivation, I can fall asleep anywhere.
The travel day wiped us out, we visited Charleston and Savannah both amazing cities, yet both so different.
“Can you spare me some change” a homeless guy asked. Nah I only got my card; what do you want? A beef stick and a drink, heard.
Here’s a beef jerky twin pack and a liter of water. Bless up brother. It’s not much but it’s enough to last him till the next person helps out.
And the cycle continues.
We got I to Anastasia around 7:15 pm. Pouring rain.
That’s one of the things that comes with this experience. Weather. The good, the bad.
I mean, it’s just rain, but things get wet
It seems to make things more difficult. Another element is added to the mix.
Having the right gear goes a long way; and we were set up in no time. Fast asleep in the car; we propped the doors open and had umbrellas pinched between to block the rain, no water getting in, no dumping buckets of water out the tent.
The morning was like we woke up in paradise. A way different vibe than a dark and rainy night. Cool temps and clear sky’s with a jungle behind us.
Life is good.
