1339. Chillin’ in Chattanooga

We extended our stay through Sunday, check out is Monday morning.

I went down to pay for the extension.

Grabbed a big cup of coffee and two pancakes for champy. Don’t get used to that buddy.

Raccoon mountain is twenty minutes away

30 miles of trails that was calling my name.

I ran 10 of them, and although the views weren’t breathtaking, the trails were thorough. It’s nice to have a trail system so close. Mountain running hits different.

I got home from the trails showered, hand wash some clothes in the tiny sink and ate some food.

  • Two cans of beans
  • A bag of salad
  • 6 pieces of bread
  • 2 avocados

I used the avocado and bread to make a salad sandwich

The beans were mixed together and seasoned with turmeric and pepper for a bean mix.

Then we were out the door again for C’s run along the river walk, something way more her speed.

We dropped her off at blue goose hollow trailhead and she was off.

I set a 45 minute timer to go off when I should call her, in the mean time I was with little c , going for walks, sniffing around and pondering on the self analysis exercise that we do once a year.

It was like a cycle, walk the boy for 5 minutes come back to the car for 5 minutes, answer some questions, repeat.

He had a big day yesterday and wasn’t really in the mood to go far, but going often gets the trick done. He was being a good boy.

The self analysis exercise is so valuable and is providing me with tons of insights into needed fixes and ah-ha’s which I’ll be listing when I’m finished the exercise.

We picked up Corie about a 15 minute drive away, with her smiling from ear to ear. I love seeing that.

After she cooled down, we started to head back to days inn with stops at Ben and Jerry’s for some pints of icecream, and Chattanooga whisky distillery for a bottle of their rye whisky – supposedly this stuff is really good. We’ll be the judge of that🤣

Back in the hotel room, Cories in the shower, I get the boy fed with some sweet potato and rice from yesterdays escapade

And we get ready for some late lunch eatin’

We spent most of the rest of the day planning. what does the rest of this trip look like?

Our plans are getting thrown sideways with this hurricane Helene, which is fine because there’s always a solution, right?

Our reservations for next week got canceled, so after some time going back and fourth – should we go back south; north, east, west, a couple shots of whiskey and some smokes we *think* we’re filling that time in with a trip to Asheville , a city we keep hearing about, would love to visit, is along our route.

Chattanooga was a vibe, city feel with a lot less people.

Asheville has even less and we’re excited to spend some time there.

We’re hoping the campgrounds and roadways open up so we can just pick up on our route where we left off.

We end the night with taking inventory on our dehydrated meal packs – we have more than enough, planning for tomorrow – it’s going to be a fun day, and making some coffee maker instant oatmeal.

Life is good,

Until next time🎉
