Travel has come to an end, it’s been a week since we got home, and it took about 5 days to decompress.
Although, still not feeling fully decompressed as I signed up for a 12-hour race this weekend
now it seems like it’s decompressing from that event.
Things slowly getting back to “normal” with new habits placed and old habits replaced
Friday
we spent most of the day preparing for the race, not only the 12 hour race but we were ready to be there for 30 hours to support some 100 mile runners. We hit the gym for a lite workout, giant, packed the car, and got to bed early.
Some things we got at giant: fruit, water, Pellegrino, kombucha, bars, and some fun snacks for the crew.
feeling a little under-trained but eager to run far.
Saturday
we were out the door by 5:15 am and got to the race around 6:15 am. We planned to chill around and start setting up at 7am but when we got there, there were already 3 tents up so we decided to start set up right away. By the time 7:15 rolled around all the prime real estate was taken.
We had 3 tents coming for the day and set up wide enough to make sure our tents would fit (we had 6 runners running the race) some dude got upset about this and we exchanged a few words. It ended with me telling him he should have got here earlier to set up (it was around 7:20 by this point, we’ve been there for over an hour)
The race started at 9 am and for me, ended at 9pm with 62 loops completed for the day, a 12-hour distance PR.
High’s and lows made for a great day, my shin held up and I was super stoked about that.
After the race I ate some food, baby wiped up, and took a few-hour cat nap in the car with C&C
Sunday
I woke up around 1 and showed some love to the runners that were still going, back to bed at 3:00 – 5:00, then back out for some more support.
It was a blast shooting the shit with everyone, I really do enjoy this event as its a close 1-mile loop and the aid stations don’t move at all.
The rest of our runners finished and we left the race around noon, hit wawa for some hoagie jawns and got to bed around 4:30 PM for a long, deep, much needed slumber.
what a fun weekend.
