1417. When Reality Hits Your Wallet

The Good Stuff

  • Had the money talk with the crew – nothing builds brotherhood like commiserating about thin wallets.
  • Playing electrical detective in finished rooms, tying up loose ends like a pro. Every outlet tells a story.
  • Starting to vibe with the crew.
  • Thorogood boots came in, these things are already worth it and I’ve only worn them in my house.

The “Could Be Better” File

  • Those “little things” turned into big time sucks. Lost my rhythm faster than a drunk drummer.

Tomorrow’s Survival Strategy

  • Restaurant life will definitely be back on the menu, folks. Saturday nights or Sunday mornings looking real attractive to my bank account.
  • Note to self: Handle the small stuff immediately. Those little tasks breed like wire scraps in your tool pouch.

Knowledge Bombs Dropped Today

  • March is coming fast. That means school is starting up 8 hours per week, bringing an even smaller paycheck with it. School’s cool, but bills are bills.
  • First year with school = $480/week. Third year = $720/week. Can’t wait till 5th year, and finally getting my card. That’s the light at the end of this very long, slightly underpaid tunnel.
  • Learned how to use a multitool like a medieval warrior.
  • Investing in a Fluke tester because getting zapped isn’t in my career development plan.

Pro Tip of the Day:
When the pay’s looking thin, remember: Every master electrician started as an apprentice.

PS: To my Fluke tester (coming soon) – please keep me alive long enough to see well passed that third-year pay rate.
