It’s been 11 work days into this whole union journey, almost 100 hours, and here are some findings:
- The pay (starting out) sucks – this isn’t a surprise but it hurts a little seeing the amount of paycheck get deposited in the bank account considering a 40 hour week. Something I’m not used too, and something I don’t need to get used too.
- School there’s another pay cut because we are working 8 hours less per week (and subbing that time with school)
- After 2,000 hours though we get obligated into the program. We are on probation essentially until then. The best part is though, once we get obligated we get all our monthly dues back since we weren’t technically a member. This is going to be HUGE and comes out to about $2,500
- No one has time for penalties, but when they happen take them in stride
- Do what’s best for you. If you need to work side gigs to make ends meet, do it. If you have a cash account and are cool with draining that, that’s fine too. There’s no right or wrong just what works best for you.
- You don’t need a big lunch unless you want to shit in a nasty porta-potty
- Give your best all the time with a positive attitude, you’ll get better with time.
- Slow is smooth and smooth is fast
Excited for these next 8,500 or so to learn.
