1467. Vitamin D deficiency

Vitamin D deficiency is a real thing and it’s something I think I’m going through now.

Before this new job, I’d be spending lots of time outside, in sunlight

The sun is one of the best ways for us to get vitamin D

I’d spend about an hour walking the dog, along with 45 minutes of running, then sometimes I’d work outside too.

When all said and done I was getting at least 2 hours of sun per day.

This schedule flip, I’ve been running early in the morning before the sun, working inside, and then spending about 20 minutes outside with the dog

My time in sun cut down about 1.5 hours

Not to mention we just went through a cold and dark winter, when it’s darker longer then it is sunny out

And i think this is one of the biggest things for me.

How did I come up with the whole vitamin D deficient thing?

Some of the symptoms that I have

  • Sickness (I’ve been sick three times this year where usually I get sick maybe every other year)
  • Breakouts which rarely happens
  • Darkness under my eyes
  • Sore joints and bones
  • Dry skin and rash

What I’m doing differently

  • Going to be doing my runs outside after work instead of before to make sure I’m getting at least an hour of sunlight per day
  • Take a vitamin D supplement
  • And continue to get good sleep

This is just a PSA to make sure your making the time to get that sunlight in and to make sure your vitamin levels are in check

Of course this is a self diagnosis, and I’ll be keeping close watch on how my body responds over the course of these next couple of weeks
