1561. The Power of Planning: Finding Balance in Daily Life

Plan everything

  • what you’re going to do after work that day
  • what you’re going to eat
  • what you’re going to do this weekend
  • how you’re going to live your life
  • the things you believe in
  • your workouts for the week

Planning sets us up for success

and the plans can be detailed as we want them to be

I’ll have chicken and rice for dinner vs I know I food shopped healthy stuff so I’ll be eating at home tonight

I have this workout planned but you know I’m really sore, I’m going to take a light day today

It’s having a plan but not being so attached to the plan that we are rigid and don’t accept spontaneity or the fact that things come up

Have a plan, but don’t be afraid to deviate.

and there’s such things as doing too much planning.

Planning every second of every day of the week or on vacation

Sometimes it’s better to have an idea of what needs to get done. Take the leap and get it done. Figure things out as they come up.

Where do you fall in this? Over-planning or under-planning? Right in the middle?

Sometimes we use over-planning is a form of anxiety management.
