1595. histories, mysteries, and presents

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

The past is history

The future is a mystery

And right now? Is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.

To sum it up: we use the past to learn from our mistakes so we don’t make the same ones in our future, or make the same ones to keep experiencing what we are experiencing. We use the future to plan what we want our life to look like in the present. And we use the present to work towards our future goals, all while being the best person we can in the moment, because that’s all we got.

We live our lives being stuck on what this person said or that person did

Or what happened last weekend or earlier this morning

But those things are in the past.

We can’t control what happened.

Yeah we can learn from it: what went well? What didn’t? What can I do differently?

And then?

We live.

In the moment.

The right now.

It’s taking lessons from our past, so we can learn from those mistakes and continue to live our life.

And those learning lessons?

It’s planning for our future, so we don’t make those same mistakes.

And if we do? We got some work to do, in the present.

The future holds another key.

Right here, right now,

We get to decide where we want to go

What our life will look like

Most people don’t have goals, or even try to achieve anything. That’s directionless living and it will drive you mad.

An idle mind is the devils workshop, you’ll start to worry, have these fears, the mind needs something to do, and it’ll find something to do with or without your conscious awareness

It’s like when we get into our car to go for a drive.

We know where we want to go, we put in the gps, have our end point, and shit, there’s more then one way to get there

And we try to get there the best way, whether that’s the fastest or most scenic or we make a pitstop at the food store or whatever.

The future is special because given enough time , we can paint whatever reality we want.

We just have to know where we are going and work damn hard at it to eventually get there.

It’s not as easy as a car, but it’s like one.

And that’s where the present comes in, living in the now.

We can plan for our future, and there’s a time and a place for that, but life is dynamic

Things come up, mood swings happen

And it’s up to use to choose how we handle things that come up

Do we react in a way that’ll make us proud or not?

And it’s a never ending learning process.

To many more fuck ups, good hits, being present, or not, to setting goals and creating the life we want.

We might not get there when we want, but eventually we’ll get to where we want our life to be.

Just remember to enjoy life along the way.
