How many times do we say or hear “they’re all…”
Whether that’s racist or in their own world or this or that – it could be anything.
Is it really everybody though?
Or is it just 1 or 2 people that shook us up and we can shake them off?
Generalizations are dangerous because we can’t generalize people.
We’re all different and unique with our own viewpoints.
To say “they’re all [blank]” is a false statement because only that person is like that, not all of them.
After all, if you were them you’d do the same thing.
And don’t forget our shit stinks too
But generalizations are a valuable tool, and are needed when we want to make change happen
We can take a guess at the people we seek to serve: what do they want? Fear? Need?
This type of generalization is different then the former due to the outcome in produces: one for change, the other for negativity
Small difference, slightly different outcomes.
