511. keeping that fire under our ass

Even though we have goals, what we’re doing today right now, needs to be kept as our focal point.

What can I do today to get me to X?

BUT

our goals… are they inflated images of ourselves?

Mansion by the sea, millionaire, famous

Because of this enlarged image of ourselves, they don’t empower us. They’re static, one thing that doesn’t change.

And I’m not saying that a mansion by the sea, fast cars, becoming a millionaire, being famous are within themselves bad or wrong, it’s that if that is our only goal, our only focus point – it’s static; when we get there, we’re still going to feel empty.

So what if we made our goals dynamic…

point towards an action that we’re engaged in and through which we are connected with others.

Instead of being a famous writer, we could focus on inspiring countless people with our work and enriching their lives through writing

Instead of living in a mansion by the sea, we could focus on making our environment the most inspiring that it can be so we can continue to strive to become better while helping others.

We can then feel how this activity is enriching the lives of others and ourselves, something that will keep that fire lit under our asses when we need it most.
