747. A POV on distractions

Ever get distracted?

I like to believe all of us do at some point throughout our days

But how many of us get distracted when we’re trying to do our most important work?

That’s dangerous

Because something that could take us 15 minutes, ends up taking an hour.

Time is being wasted – a nonrenewable.

And when we’re distracted, there’s a distraction lapse at work.

We work for 5 minutes, get distracted for 30 minutes, snap out of it and get back to work.

But in reality, it doesn’t work like that.

Because when we “snap out of it” it takes us another 5 or 10 minutes to pick up where we left off and get our momentum back – to get reoriented.

Because by the time we do get back into our momentum, our focus is drained, our energy is drained – we’re not operating at 100% but maybe 70%

And done a few more times?

Maybe it’s down to 40%

It’s more time wasted

If I’m going to get distracted, let it be at the end of my day when my tanks are already drained

Starting days off on the right foot is always something worth striving for.
