Are you trying to get started with running?
Maybe you don’t know where to start
This running routine is how I built the habit of running most days
First things first, we need to get into our running clothes.
I set these things out the night before. Socks, shorts, shirt
Step 2: Check the mirror / put deodorant on
Step 3: Get your running gear together
Ideally, we can put our running gear in the same spot every day so it’s already pre-set the night before. Some things on my running gear list that I use most days:
- Heart rate monitor
- Gloves/jacket/hat
- Running belt
- Warm up equipment
Step 4: warm up (2-5 minutes) through movement
- IT bads
- Hip flexor/quads
- hamstrings/ glutes
- Calves
- Groins
- Arches
Use a lacrosse ball for your feet, and a resistance band for all the others.
Step 5: get your running shoes on
This is the anchor because once we get our running shoes on, we know what is about to happen
Step 6: get out of the house
This may be the hardest part, it’s going to feel weird at first but eventually, it’ll be a habit that can’t be broken.
Step 7: start strava aka RECORD THE RUN!
This makes it FUN!
These anchors are going to make this running habit easier to become a habit.
- Lacing up the shoes, getting out the door, starting strava.
Step 8: get that run in!
(And run could be a walk, jog, anything really. Just get them miles.)
Today’s run took 18 minutes or so, about 2 miles.
Thank you so much for tuning in, I appreciate your attention – share this with someone who needs it!
Go get your miles
peace!
