Runners use a taper to let their bodies heal from all the training they did, all the miles they put down
Tapers usually last for 7 – 21 days, the average about 14, and runners strategically decrease their miles leading up to the big race day.
Runners may peak at 100 miles for the week and then taper with 60 and 30 weekly miles the following two weeks..
It’s a break from our normal running routines, giving our bodies time to heal…
We may feel slow or groggy, beat up..
Some fill that time with more movement, just in other forms like yoga or biking
Others spend that time on mindless activities
We can use tapering as a way of life through
More as a chance for us to rest and recover, reflect, and keep moving
Vs sitting around and doing nothing.
Life isn’t always gogogo
It ebs and flows
Rolling with it
