1199. C and O Canal 100 Riff

Well, that didn’t go as planned – on pace until mile 60 and then lost my L shin. Ended up sleeping for 2.5 hours at mile 70 and walking the last 40 miles.

Once again: Corie gave her time up to crew for this shenanigan and Pete let me “rent” his poles❤️

I wanted to drop I really did, I even brought it up to corie 3x and she didn’t even acknowledge me😭 it’s funny, I always say “time out over drop out” but it’s wayyyyy different practicing that when you’re beat tf down and have a million logical reasons to drop out. It’s not easy to go on, but having someone there to keep me straight saved my ass, yet again. Some good old tough love❤️

Once I started going I was locked in. TDR’s man in the arena speech was on repeat mixed with 1,000,000 “lord give me strength” prayers

It’s been about a week since the race and I was pretty fucked up. Recovery is moving along with lots of rest, ice, and turmeric tea

Back to the drawing board ✍🏽

Need to get this lower limb/ shin issue figured out

  • 12 weeks no running min. Can try a slow run on August 1st.
    • Slowly get back into running and slowly build up mileage.
    • The rest of this year is about recovery so that I can come back strong next year
  • August first: Try hop test and see if there is pain
  • Mean time: bike
