How do most people set goals?
Lose 20 pounds
Write a book
Make $80,000
Spend more time with my kids
Goals within themselves are good
It gives us a point B to get too.
But goals within themselves are empty, it’s the last thing we “get”
Lose 20 pounds is the result of a long slew of actions, not an overnight thing
The same with writing a book or making $80,000, and spending more time with your kids isn’t a one time thing
But a slew of actions over time
Goals are the “have”
What do I want to have?
But before that, we need to do something
And the best way to do something is to realize who do we have to be?
Someone who is healthy, works out, eats clean, and looks good naked
Someone who is a writer, writes everyday, eventually writes a book
It’s about tying in the action with or identity
Be, do, have
Who do we have to be, in order to do what we need to do, and eventually have what we want to have?
It’s not what do I want?
That’s why New Year’s resolutions only last a few weeks. These people don’t change who they are; they give a half assed effort and changing their actions.
Developing no skills, and hoping.
Hope is a terrible plan
Love this!!! Hope won’t help but skills will
