Foam rolling for runners
Well, this is something I barely do.
And it’s something I know I should do more.
For a visual or an analogy, our muscles break down and produce a fluid, just like a blister. This fluid from our muscles is called lactic acid. The lactic acid is leaking all over our muscles and hardens – causing knots, and tension.
That’s why we feel sore.
And foam rolling? It breaks up that lactic acid in our muscles, allowing our bodies to do their thing in “draining” the acid out of our muscles, allowing our muscles to become not as tight, to become stronger, to feel better, and to heal quicker.
Foam rollers cost about 15$ and in my opinion, are worth every penny.
I’m starting to foam roll at the end of every workout for 5 minutes, it’s not much but it’s something.
It’s even better than a massage.
